Cookies and browser storage
BrainHunters Academy uses an essential session cookie to keep your family signed in and browser session storage to remember the selected learner. Google Analytics is off by default. You can choose whether to allow measurement of public information pages using the control below.
What this browser remembers
| Storage item | Purpose | Duration & control |
|---|---|---|
bh_sessionCookie · HttpOnly | Keeps the adult account signed in. Contains a session credential, not a password or learning records. | Up to 30 days in the current configuration. Sign out to end access. |
brainhunters.selected-childsessionStorage | Remembers the selected learner for the signed-in family in this tab. | Tab session; also cleared at sign-out or when the family account changes. |
brainhunters.sound-enabledlocalStorage | Remembers whether you have enabled sound on this browser. | Until you change the setting or clear this site’s browser storage. |
bh_google_statebh_google_pendingCookie · HttpOnly | Temporary checks during Google sign-in, only when that option is configured and used. | Up to 10 minutes; cleared as the sign-in flow completes. |
Sound preference
The same setting as the sound button in the header; saved in this browser.
Clearing browser storage does not delete learning records on the server. Use parent controls for account data requests.

Google Analytics is off until you allow it on the Cookies page. It may then use analytics cookies to measure public information pages. Learning activities, maps, rewards, parent accounts, and sign-in pages are excluded. We send page paths and titles without query strings, account details, or child profile records. You can withdraw consent at any time; this stops further measurement but does not erase existing cookies or previously collected information.
Analytics is disabled for this browser.
The essential sign-in cookie
The bh_session cookie holds a session credential. It does not contain your password or your child’s learning records. The server uses it to recognize your signed-in account and apply access controls.
Signing out ends session access. Locking the parent zone closes the PIN gate while keeping child learning available. You can remove or block cookies in your browser settings; blocking the session cookie prevents account features from staying signed in.
Remembering the selected learner
Browser session storage keeps the identifier of the selected learner for the current family account. This makes a page refresh return to the same learner. It is checked against the signed-in family and is cleared when you sign out.
This setting is separate from saved learning progress on the server. Clearing browser storage does not delete the family account or its learning records. Use the PIN-protected parent controls to export or delete those records.
Optional learning emails
Optional learning emails use a separate choice in parent settings. They require a verified parent email and can be stopped using the unsubscribe link. This preference does not authorize advertising trackers or public child profiles.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is off until you allow it on the Cookies page. It may then use analytics cookies to measure public information pages. Learning activities, maps, rewards, parent accounts, and sign-in pages are excluded. We send page paths and titles without query strings, account details, or child profile records. You can withdraw consent at any time; this stops further measurement but does not erase existing cookies or previously collected information.
Your choice is stored locally as brainhunters.analytics-consent-v1 when browser storage is available. Clearing site data resets the choice to off. Turning analytics off does not delete existing cookies or affect sign-in and learning features.
